With the intention of mucking about with cassette tape and crappy tape delays, I built Tom Whitwell’s Magnetophon, which brings the signal from a cassette tape playback head into Eurorack.
Nothing to say about the build it as it’s just an op-amp and a handful of passives, super simple and done in about 20 minutes or less.
The schematic is here – worth looking at for DIY cassette delay builds, etc, as it would be easy to breadboard.
PCB and panel from Thonk – make sure to order an extra tape head so you’re not limited to the one built into the panel. I built a very shonky “tape wand” with a head screwed onto a strip of MDF and some shielded cable going to a 3.5mm jack.
